11-year-old La’Darious Wylie was waiting for the school bus with his sister Sha’Vonta when a car swerved off the road toward them. La’Darious didn’t think twice. He saved his sister from the car and ended up paying the ultimate price.
The residents of his town of Chester, South Carolina, held a candlelight vigil for him on Saturday–a celebration of his life.
The woman who is responsible for this tragedy, Michelle Johnson, was caught. She’s facing up to 25 years in prison. But La’Darious’ mom Elizabeth McCrorey isn’t the type of person to hold onto hate. “I don’t hate her – I just wish she had stopped,” Elizabeth said.
La’Darious’ mom, sister, five other siblings, and the whole town will miss this heroic soul. Our thoughts and condolences to the family.
