She’s Making Her Omelette In a Bag. Best Hack Ever? We Think So Too.

Omelets continue to elude me. It appears to be such a simple concept, but I always end up making scrambled eggs with the mushrooms and cheese. They say you can always judge a chef by his omelette. In fact, it is one of the most respected feats of a serious cook. A basic omelette has no shortcuts or fancy ingredients to hide behind. But now, I can perfect this task with omelette in a bag. For all of the omelette lovers who never get it right—this one is for you. And the best part, there is no clean up.

Coming to us from Allrecipes, she adds two eggs in a Ziploc bag and presses out most of the air and seals it. She then squeezes the bag to beat the eggs. Next she puts the bag back into the measuring cup and adds ingredients.

You can add the items of your choice, but this recipe calls for chopped slices of ham, half cup of shredded cheese, 1 tablespoon of chopped onion, 1 tablespoon of chopped green bell pepper, 2 tablespoons of chopped tomatoes, 2 chopped mushrooms, and 2 tablespoons of chunky salsa.

Again, she squeezes out the air and seals the bag. She then mushes the ingredients together.

Now it’s time to cook the omelette. In a pot of boiling water, put the bag inside for 13 minutes.

You would have just made a perfect omelette. Best kitchen hack ever? We think so too.
