State Outsmarts Thieves Who Insist On Stealing A Particular Sign Over And Over Again

A recent trend has developed out west involving mile marker signs on long highways.

As Yahoo News reports, transportation officials in Colorado, and Washington — states with loose marijuana regulations — as well as Idaho have needed to replace mile marker 420 on multiple occasions because of theft.

If you don’t know by now, the number “420” is associated with marijuana enthusiasts. The origin of this connotation is hazy, but it is certain that stoners probably get a good laugh from stealing 420 signs off the highway.

So transportation officials have implemented a clever idea— instead of indicating that drivers are at mile marker 420, they are now using signs that say drivers are at mile marker 419.99.b

What a way to outsmart the potheads!
