Can you imagine what it would feel like to have someone hand you a pair of glasses that allowed you to experience a brand new color for the first time in your life? How about a whole bunch of new colors? Well, that’s pretty much what happened for this color blind guy when his sister gave him a pair of EnChroma glasses for his birthday.
I don’t know about you, but I’d be crying a lot more than this guy if I got to see my daughter’s eye color for the first time in either of our lives. I’d pretty much just be a puddle.
These EnChroma glasses look like normal sunglasses, but their lenses are specially designed to filter out light that gets in the way of a color blind person observing the full spectrum of color. It’s done with computer models and science and stuff.
What’s really important is that allows hues that normally look like two slightly different muddy shades of grayish-brown to pop out as vibrant greens and reds. Or whatever. They come with a bunch of different kinds of lens to fit a variety of types of color blindness.
It’s pretty fascinating stuff, check out this earlier post: Colorblind People See A Rainbow For The First Time With These Special Glasses.
