We often hear about how there are “good cops” out there. Recently, one officer stuck up for citizens who were being detained on the Fourth of July.
Two security guards had detained and were about to search people just for watching fireworks. But that’s when a police officer showed up on the scene and said “there is a constitution that I swear an oath to, so don’t freaking mess with it with these citizens. Do you understand me?”
“I know you aren’t subjected to the Constitution when it comes to your job, but don’t mess with it,” the officer says.
“They have a right to their property. They have a right not to be searched by anybody. They have a right not to be accosted,” he adds.
“I swore an oath to the constitution, don’t mess with it.”
