Hero Service Dog Jumps In Front Of A Bus To Protect Blind Owner

If dogs are man’s best friends than there is no denying that service dogs are our true guardian angels.

We’ve seen how service dogs can help everyone from children like this little girl who need an extra pair of eyes on them at all times to our brave military heroes returning from war who suffer from debilitating issues, like this soldier with PTSD who’s life was saved by his canine companion.

There’s no doubt in the world that service dogs can do some pretty amazing things for their human owners who need some extra help, but I’ve never heard of anything as incredible as what recently happened in Brewster, NY.

Audrey Stone is a blind woman who gets around with some help from her golden retriever service dog, Figo. The pair was crossing a busy street at around 8:15 a.m. when a mini school bus, returning from dropping off children, came towards Stone, who had no idea. Figo’s protective instincts immediately kicked in and he made the ultimate sacrifice, diving in front of his owner to protect her from the oncoming mini-bus.

The 62-year-old woman suffered three broken ribs, a fractured elbow and ankle and cuts on the forehead, while the dog was cut down to the bone. The bus driver was given a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian, although he claims he did not see Stone and her dog until it was too late.

Witnesses say if it wasn’t for the dog taking most of the blow, the woman he was trained to guide would have sustained much worse injuries. Thankfully, Figo is expected to make a full recovery at the animal hospital he is being treated at.

Please note: The dog is incorrectly called “Bigo” in the following video.

If you want to show some love and say “thank you” to Figo and all of the amazing service dogs out there, please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook!
