I don’t how many or what kinds of creatures can infest a human body. But what if one day you suddenly feel something crawling inside your mouth? And no matter how much you brush your teeth, the tingling sensation remains. Are you prepared to know what’s inside?
This is exactly what happened to a schoolgirl named Ana Cardoso, 10 from Brazil. Ana has been complaining to her mother about a tingling sensation in her gums and it seems is moving around. Ana’s mother, Adriana, 35, thought at first her daughter was just joking. She also said, I couldn’t see anything and she didn’t seem to be in pain.
Because of her swollen gums, Ana was taken to a dental clinic. She was diagnosed with a rare form of Oral Myiasis, a fly lava maggot infection that grows inside humans and animals.
Mum Adriana was stunned and said, I couldn’t believe it when they said she had a disease and then started pulling the maggots out. I thought I was going to be sick. She also added, She was actually very calm throughout the whole process but I suspect that was more out of helplessness. I mean where could she run to?
We also wanted to show the girl’s family what had happened and warn others!
The 2.43 minute video shows Ana’s reaction as a surgeon in white gloves takes out one maggot at a time with a pair of tweezers.
